New AP Data: Small Businesses Are Uniquely Trusted By The American People To Speak On Policy Issues

WASHINGTON D.C., Dec. 30, 2024 – New data from the Associated Press, highlighted in Axios, finds that small businesses are uniquely trusted by Democrats, Independents, and Republicans to speak on policy issues. More Americans approve of small businesses taking a public stand on policy issues than any other institution tested.

Axios: 🤐 We've heard enough

  • Americans want to hear less about politics from public figures — and Republicans really don't want to hear it, according to a new poll by AP and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research at the University of Chicago.

  • 🛍️ Small business is a huge exception: 43% of people are happy to hear from entrepreneurs. That breaks down to 49% of Dems, 41% of Republicans and 33% of independents.

“Small business is the most trusted institution in America,” said Rhett Buttle, Senior Advisor, Small Business for America’s Future. “Small business owners and entrepreneurs aren’t just the economic engines fueling our Main Streets, they are our neighbors and community members. Americans of all political persuasions trust and want to hear from small businesses on important policy issues. Surveys have consistently found that top priorities for small business owners include lowering
health care and prescription drug costs, supporting tax fairness, and addressing threats to small business success like floods, fires, and excessive heat. As we enter a new year and a new administration, American’s enduring trust in the policy voice of small business is notable, and the priorities of small business must be at the top of the agenda.”
