Small business group: Senate passage of Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal a major victory for small business

Statement by Rhett Buttle, senior advisor to Small Business for America’s Future, on today’s Senate passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal

Washington, D.C., August 10, 2021—TToday’s Senate passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal providing needed resources for Main Street businesses is a significant milestone and we urge the House to take up and pass the legislation without delay to help small businesses continue to recover from the pandemic. 

Small businesses welcome investment in our roads, bridges, broadband, and other community resources. Getting the bipartisan infrastructure deal across the finish line is an important step in creating a strong and inclusive economy. 

Small business owners also think a broader approach to infrastructure is good for Main Street. In Small Business for America’s Future’s recent national survey of more than 1,000 small business owners, 70% supported federal investments in paid leave, 75% supported making child care more affordable, and a whopping 87% supported investments to improve long-term care.

That is why we hope after Congress passes the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan, it will act on broader investments in human infrastructure like child care, paid leave, and a social safety net that ensures a strong and vibrant workforce to help our small businesses grow.
