Small Business Group Applauds President Biden’s Infrastructure Announcement

Statement from Small Business for America’s Future Co-Chair Shaundell Newsome on President Biden’s recent infrastructure announcement 

June 26, 2023–We applaud President Biden’s significant stride towards building a future-forward nation with today’s announcement that the federal government will allocate $42 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to bring all Americans affordable, reliable, and high-speed internet by 2030. The expansion of broadband internet will greatly benefit small businesses across the country by ensuring they have the tools to compete in an increasingly digital marketplace.



Together, with prior investments from the American Rescue Plan, the country will invest more than $90 billion to deliver high speed internet to all. Broadband has become a fundamental resource for businesses of all sizes, and President Biden’s commitment to enhance this crucial infrastructure is welcome. 

For small businesses, the implications are substantial. Enhanced broadband access serves as a gateway, connecting small businesses to potential customers not just locally, but nationwide and even globally. This ability to tap into broader markets from their own communities furnishes small business owners with unparalleled growth opportunities. Furthermore, the nationwide broadband expansion will necessitate a wide range of goods and services—opportunities that small businesses are primed to seize and supply, further driving their growth and success.

Eighty-eight percent of small business owners backed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law when it was being considered because they knew the investments it promised would bolster Main Street. This investment propels our businesses forward, which benefits us all. Investing in broadband infrastructure, and in Main Street, will unleash the power of American entrepreneurship to create jobs, build wealth in local communities and create a stronger economy for us all.
