Small Business for America’s Future Senior Advisor and Co-chair Discuss American Rescue Plan with VP Harris & Treasury Secretary Yellen
Senior Advisor Renee Johnson and Co-Chair Shaundell Newsome participate in conversation with Vice President Harris, Treasury Secretary Yellen and Black chambers of commerce to discuss the importance of passing the American Rescue Plan
Washington, D.C., Feb. 5, 2021–Small Business for America’s Future (SBAF) Senior Advisor Renee Johnson and Co-chair Shaundell Newsome today met with Vice President Kamala Harris and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, along with representatives from Black chambers of commerce across the country, to discuss the need for more economic relief to help small businesses suffering from the economic fallout of the pandemic.
“I was glad to have this important opportunity to join an event with the vice president and secretary of the Treasury because the economic pain small businesses are feeling, particularly those owned by Black and other entrepreneurs of color, will continue well into 2021 and they need more relief to help them survive. Providing economic stimulus to individuals is also important to the health of Main Street because it puts money into the pockets of small businesses’ customers,” Johnson said. “The consequences of failing to help small businesses are huge. Our 30 million small businesses employ half of all Americans and drive economic activity in every community in our country. The bottom line is that to have a strong recovery we need a strong small business sector. Vice President Harris and Treasury Secretary Yellen were very receptive to this message.”
