Small business group commends implementation of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as policy turns 2, urges lawmakers to avoid cuts 

Statement by Small Business for America’s Future Co-chair Shaundell Newsome, Founder of Sumnu Marketing 

Nov. 15, 2023– “It’s been encouraging to see the positive impact that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has had on our economy as it’s been implemented over the past two years. Investments like funding for 445 port and waterway projects that will strengthen supply chains and improvements on 135,800 miles of roads will play a role in the success of Main Street small businesses. 

“As a small business owner, I know the importance of investing in modern and efficient transportation systems. It improves our ability to access essential resources, reach out to customers and tap into new markets. 

“With $400 billion dollars in investments in all 50 states announced so far, communities will see new jobs and opportunities for small businesses as well as repairs and improvements to our nation’s roads and bridges that are in desperate need of repair. 

“As lawmakers continue to debate a long-term federal budget, some have suggested making drastic cuts to the law that would put a number of important projects in jeopardy. This would be a shortsighted move that would be a setback to the communities ready to reap the benefits of implementation of the law. 

“We urge lawmakers to consider common sense solutions that will boost the well being of small businesses and the hard working people they employ rather than play politics with the economy.”
